Porter
As history would have it, both porters & stouts were traditionally one in the same. Often ‘stout porters’, as they were called, were more robust versions of a regular porter. Nowadays the 2 styles have very much diverged on their own paths. Porters are lighter in colour, often shades of brown, while the flavour profile consists of caramel & chocolate notes with less astringency on the finish than a stout.
